Reggie Miller claims he was not taking a shot at LeBron James

Pacers legend Reggie Miller was in the news recently for his controversial comments at the start of TNT's Game 4 broadcast of Nuggets versus Timberwolves. While reacting to Anthony Edwards taking ownership for the Game 3 loss, Miller said the Minnesota star won him over with his comments.

"I'm now an even bigger fan of Anthony Edwards after watching that clip," Miller said. "We've got certain guys with veteran status in our game — that are on a lot of people's Mt. Rushmore — that like to deflect and point fingers at others. Here's a 22-year-old saying, 'This is on me, this is my fault.' I love that."

Although Miller didn't mention LeBron James, it was obvious to the listening audience that he was referring to the Lakers star. James has often been criticized for not taking accountability for his team's failures, a narrative that resurfaced after the Lakers fired Darvin Ham for their first-round playoff exit.

Miller was asked, "Who were you taking a shot at?" during his appearance on "The Dan Patrick Show" on Tuesday. The retired sharpshooter denied he was speaking of James.

"I'm taking a shot in general," Miller responded. "I'm trying to give credit and creed to a 22-year-old because I want to put myself in his shoes. I remember when I was 21 or 22, I don't know if I could have gotten in front of a camera with the whole world watching and said 'This is on me.' And I know a lot of people want to think and assume that it's LeBron I'm taking shots at. Look, I've been in those locker rooms when certain veterans shy away from that...If it was LeBron, I would have said LeBron James.

Patrick — not sold by the explanation — grilled Miller and asked him to fess up, but to no avail.

"Why does everyone think everything revolves around LeBron? It doesn't," Miller added.
